2017 will represent a milestone for the model that will celebrate its 50th anniversary on the North American market. For the occasion, Toyota plans to mark the occasion with a special edition of the Corolla.

The Toyota Corolla has a long legacy. Though the model has undergone a slow shift in personality, it has remained consistent in terms of reliability. Three years ago, the model received a thorough redesign from the bottom up reaching new levels in design and popularity. The Corolla went from low-key practical compact sedan to true head-turner. 2017 will represent a milestone for the model that will celebrate its 50th anniversary on the North American market. For the occasion, Toyota plans to  mark the occasion with a special edition of the Corolla.

A new step in the history of the Toyota Corolla

The Corolla sold over 43 millions in half a century, making it one of the longest running and best selling models on the market. 50 years is quite the benchmark and Toyota decided that it deserved a special edition and a refreshed look to match the occasion. Unveiled at the New York auto show, the Corolla showed its new upgraded lines to the world. It was also the occasion to announce that the special edition Corolla will bear the letter XSE. Despite turning fifty, the model remains fresh and modern. The updates done for the upcoming model year are subtle, noticeable mostly at the front. The nose of the hood looks slightly longer with the line in the shape of a V plunging towards an elegant mesh front grille completed with aggressive looking LED fog light strips.

Technology made its way into the 2017 Toyota Corolla

In the cockpit, the dashboard has received a few improvements, integrating a 6.1 inch touchscreen display. The XSE will also get trim specific black cherry colored accents. The updated Corolla will offer features including heated seats, wheel-mounted commands, cruise control, keyless entry with push start button, moonroof, backup camera, infotainment system with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity and streaming capacity. It will as well receive the latest in terms of safety technology thanks to the Toyota Safety Sense package that includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist and automatic high beams. All trim levels of the Corolla also include the Star Safety System that also adds features including traction and stability control, brake assist and smart stop technology.
