2015 Toyota Corolla – The quintessential economy car with modern styling and features

Published on November 24 2014

''Overall, the 2015 Corolla delivers a similar driving experience to that of its predecessor, which means that consumers can expect it to provide a pleasant, well-mannered ride. ''

Fresh off a full redesign for the 2014 model year, the 2015 Toyota Corolla continues to provide buyers with a reliable, fuel-efficient and affordable car, in addition to new and more modern styling both inside and out, and some slight modifications to feature availability.

Having been introduced in the 1966, the Toyota Corolla has managed to carve a name for itself within the automotive industry, and is perhaps viewed by many as the quintessential economy car. The Corolla is one of the best-selling vehicles in the world, and continues to remain on the consumer radar when someone is in need of an affordable and reliable compact car.

With its recent redesign, the 2015 Toyota Corolla is able to provide buyers with sleek new styling that is more on par with the demands of today’s buyers. The new model is available in four trims, and includes highlights like standard LED headlights, 15/16/17-inch wheels depending on the model, and sportier front and rear fascia, fog lamps, and chrome exhaust tip found on the S trim. A moonroof is standard with the LE ECO Technology Package, and available on the LE and S models.

A 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine generating 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque powers the 2015 Toyota Corolla, and is said to deliver more torque at low-medium speeds, greater fuel efficiency and reduced emissions (among other elements) due to its Dual Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i). The LE ECO’s version of the 1.8-litre engine gets a little more horsepower with a total output of 140 hp, and slightly less torque with 126 lb-ft.

CE and S models are equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, and the LE and LE ECO trims benefit from a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). A sequential multi-mode shifter and paddle shifters are optional with the CVT on the S model, and owners of the base CE can opt for a 4-speed automatic.

Overall, the 2015 Corolla delivers a similar driving experience to that of its predecessor, which means that consumers can expect it to provide a pleasant, well-mannered ride.

As for fuel economy, we have said it before and we will say it again, the Corolla is sought after in part for its fuel-efficient nature (in addition to an affordable price and proven reliability). With the LE ECO model and CVT transmission, the rating is 7.7/5.6 litres per 100 kilometres (city/highway), with a combined rating of 6.8 L/100km. With the 4-speed automatic, buyers can expect a combined rating of 7.6 L/100km, which is none too shabby either.

Finally, when inside the vehicle, consumers may note the newer and more modern-looking style, from the dash to the user-friendly controls, and overall more stylish cabin layout. As for features, bucket seats, or sport seats, heated front seats, a rearview camera, keyless entry, push button start, satellite radio, and finally a 6.1-inch audio display with voice recognition are offered, depending on the model.

The 2015 Toyota Corolla is styled to meet the demands of modern society, and continues to provide buyers of the compact car with an affordable, reliable, and fuel-efficient vehicle, with lots of available features.
